Behind the Scenes of a Commercial Skincare Test Photoshoot with Veronika Yanko

Setting the Stage: The Studio and Its Role in the Shoot.

Why Prostir.LA Was the Perfect Venue

Located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, Prostir.LA offered the ideal space for our commercial skincare shoot. With its minimalist design and professional-grade equipment, the studio provided a clean and versatile backdrop for capturing the soft, polished aesthetic that beauty brands demand. The neutral tones and expansive lighting options made it easy to shift between various product setups seamlessly.

The Benefits of Studio Photography for Skincare Campaigns

Studio environments are essential for skincare photography as they allow for complete control over lighting and background. This ensures that every shot highlights the product’s packaging and the model's flawless complexion, which is critical for brands in competitive markets like Sephora and Target. The controlled environment minimized distractions and allowed us to focus solely on the products and Veronika’s expressions.

Purpose and Vision:
Building Veronika Yanko’s Portfolio.

Targeting the Beauty and Skincare Industry

The primary goal of this test shoot was to build Veronika’s portfolio with high-quality, commercial-ready images. These photos would serve as a gateway for her to land opportunities in the beauty and skincare industry, showcasing her potential to work with major brands. By emphasizing skincare, we positioned Veronika as a versatile model capable of promoting products that require an elevated, detail-oriented approach.

The Importance of Commercial-Ready Images for Models

For models aspiring to break into the beauty industry, having a portfolio that demonstrates the ability to embody a brand's essence is crucial. The images we captured reflected industry standards, mimicking the professional look brands seek for e-commerce, print, and social media campaigns. This shoot set the foundation for Veronika’s future collaborations with beauty giants.

Creative Direction:
My Role in the Process.

Balancing Photographer and Creative Director Roles

In this project, I took on dual responsibilities as both the photographer and creative director. This allowed me to guide the shoot’s visual narrative from start to finish. From planning the product placements to fine-tuning Veronika’s poses, I ensured that each frame met the commercial standards required for the beauty industry. My creative direction focused on balancing product visibility with Veronika’s natural charm.

“My goal was to create a portfolio that not only showcases Veronika’s potential but also meets the high standards of the beauty and skincare industry.”

Post-Shoot Retouching: Elevating the Images for E-commerce

After the shoot, I meticulously retouched the images to bring out the best in every shot. This included enhancing the product textures, perfecting skin tones, and ensuring that the final images were print-ready. The post-processing work was essential to achieve the clean, high-end look that appeals to beauty retailers and consumers alike.
